Matthew 5:48 says, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
Matthew 5:20 says, "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."
Two simple pieces of paper may change your life, but you must first ask yourself the question: "Have you been perfect?" None of us have!
The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Our problem is: (Is. 59:2) "But your iniquities (sins) have separated between you and your God." But, how then can we get into Heaven?
It's easy to explain with two pieces of paper…
Ps. 40:12c says, "my sins are more than the hairs on my head."
On the cross Jesus cried out at noon, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
II Corinthians 5:21- "For He (God) has made Him (Christ) to be sin for us who knew no sin." Jesus Never Sinned!
I Peter 1:19 says, "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and spot."
Hebrews 4:15b says, "He was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin."
Our sins were deposited on Christ.
II Corinthians 5:21 says, "That we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
His righteousness is deposited to our account! Therefore, when we die, we can have a pure, perfect standing before the Lord; We can stand before Him as though we have never sinned!
When do we receive his righteousness to our account? When we are willing to repent.
When we are willing to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior! When we are willing to give our lives to Him and live for Him!
God Expects 3 Things of Us:
• To turn from our sin.
• To trust that Jesus died for us.
• To testify publicly.
• To trust that Jesus died for us.
• To testify publicly.
If this makes sense, I want to challenge you to make the most important decision you can ever make—pray this prayer and mean it with your whole heart. There is tremendous promise in God's Word!
Romans 10:13 says "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I have sinned against you. I have said "no" to you before. I ask that you forgive me. I believe that you died for my sin. I believe you were buried and that you rose on the third day. I say "yes" to you today. I invite you into my heart to live in me. I give my life to you to live for you from this day forward. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for giving me eternal life. Help me to tell others about you. Amen.
Now that you have made this tremendous decision the Bible encourages you to:
1. Publicly confess Christ as your Savior and Lord at a good, Bible believing church. (Rom. 10:9-11) Verse 11- "For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."
2. Follow the Lord in Believer's Baptism. (Mt. 28:19-20, 3:13-17)
3. Observe the Lord's Supper with other believers.
(I Cor. 11:23-26)
4. Be faithful and commited to church attendance. (Heb. 10:25)
5. Develop a daily devotional time; time you spend allowing God to speak to you from His Word. (II Tim. 2:15, Acts 17:11, Ps. 119:11)
6. Pray daily and continually (Lk. 11:1-4, I Th. 5:17) Prayer is talking mind to mind and heart to heart with God.
7. Tell others about what God has done for you and challenge them to make the same decision. (II Co. 5:18-20)
